About the Album

Taking Flight is the debut album from The RED Pelicans — a Canadian punk/pop-alternative band blending raw honesty, geek pride, and a love for 90s/2000s punk energy.

This record is a journey through life’s chaos: the burnout, the unfairness, the laughter, the nostalgia, and the hope that keeps us pushing forward. From protest anthems to goofy geek pride, every track captures a piece of real life — messy, loud, and worth it.

A fun, goofy, heartfelt take on what real love looks like when the spark matures into sweatpants, snacks, and comfort.

A love letter to Canada — playful, proud, and full of humor. Released to celebrate Canada Day.

Raw and loud. A track about how the world can chew you up — but instead of giving in, you need to fight back to change your life.

Tiny Waves

Small acts of kindness can create giant ripples. An uplifting track about how even little gestures can change someones life. So even when you are feeling down or angry, try not to take it out on others.

Geek Anthem

A celebration of all things geeky — D&D, comics, anime, and conventions. Written with Winnipeg Comic Con in mind, inspired by all the “Geeky” things I love and all the years of making memories at Winnipeg Comic Con with my dad.

Used to Be

A nostalgic trip through my childhood; Remembering the 1990’s and early 2000s culture — Tamagotchis, mix CDs, and Saturday morning cartoons.

Simmish

A tongue-in-cheek track inspired by Gen Z slang, sounding like something straight out of The Sims. Fun, weird, and totally unserious.

Out of the Rabbit Hole

A song deditcated to one of my closest friends. It is about struggles with mental illness, depression and anxiety, reminding us that even in darkness, we are not alone.

Life’s Lottery

A humorous but uplifting reminder that just being alive is winning and beating the odds. Light-hearted, uplifting, and positive.

Hunting Harmony

An acoustic track about slowing down, healing, and finding balance — because health is wealth.

The powerful closer. A protest anthem about war, remembrance, and the responsibility to build a better world. Haunting, urgent, and real.

Life isn’t easy. It’s unfair, exhausting, funny, beautiful, and absurd all at once. Taking Flight is about embracing that chaos — screaming through the pain, laughing through the weirdness, and holding onto hope.
